I recently updated my laptop to now run Windows 10 and it has been great so far. However, I am running into a bit of a technical issue. I currently own a Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter that my computer does not seem to want to locate under the «Connect» option.

I’ve even gone into the settings and clicked «Add Device» and still nothing shows up. I have an HP Pro Book. It is a little bit of an older model compared to laptops, however a great laptop overall. Runs Windows 10 beautifully. I also have a Microsoft Surface Pro 3, but that is currently out to service, and I have been unable to test the connection functionality of the Display Adapter with Windows 10 on that. It did work just fine with Windows 8. So I know that up to the point that my Surface Pro 3 had to go out for service, that my Display Adapter was working fine.

I guess my question is whether or not my laptop will allow me to mirror up to it, and if so how can I get it to recognize that the device is present and ready to connect?

I assume that my Surface Pro 3 will work when it gets back from service, considering that the «Connect» option will be present on that toolbar option. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback.

Thank you for directing me to the official troubleshooting page. I went ahead and tried each of the things on the list, including resetting the dongle itself, and I am still having trouble. The adapter seems to be ready to connect, but my HP Laptop does not seem to find it when it searches for devices. I am unsure if it is my laptop or if I am still just doing something wrong in regards to Windows I never had Windows 8. The only reason I knew about the mirroring capability is because my Surface Pro 3 always worked via Windows 8.

As I have mentioned before, my Surface Pro 3 is currently out to service, so I have been unable to test it out on that device. This is actually the main reason I am using my older laptop more right now. Once I get my Surface Pro 3 back from service, I am planning on testing it out through that. Until then though, is there any other recommendations or ways of troubleshooting? I feel as if I’ve tried everything. I have the Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 and have tried to connect the device on 3 different TVs in two different locations without any luck.

I tried all the suggested sites, and followed the instructions. I have been researching this issue for a while and have not been able to find a site that can address it. I tried online chat with a technician and they could not resolve it either.

Perhaps there is something I have missed? Hopefully someone from Microsoft will see these posts and do a little research before sending us to a Windows 8. From what I have seen and heard this is definitely something to have running, especially if one does presentations. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
