Turned on my wireless Xbox controller tonight and it wouldn’t sync to my PC. I noticed the Bluetooth logo was missing from the system tray and when I opened up my bluetooth settings I was told Bluetooth was turned off with no ability to turn it back on.
I did a few quick troubleshooting searches and noticed most folks recommended I open up the device manager and try to manually update drivers. Which I did on every item but they were all grayed out. Install it even if it’s the same or newer than the one in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is how to keep the latest manufacturer’s drivers current. Windows Update drivers are never enough.
If these fail Uninstall the Driver, restart PC to reinstall. You can also let the Updates install again as they may not cause the same problem, then if they do use one of the above methods to remove and block them.
Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files.
Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method.
