Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Win10 is downgraded to 2 cores according to him. So, I would think Microsoft would know what is on my computer, 4 cores 8 processors.

You are beginning to contradict yourself. In your second reply you said «if you read down through that you will see Windows 10 supports 2 Physical CPU’s However, now in your last reply you gave me the link about my system:. According to your last reply you made the claim that I have 1 cpu and used that link as proof.

But look again at that link and skip down to the line where it says » of Cores». Then click on the «? You will notice the definition of » of Cores» is stated as «Cores is a hardware term that describes the number of independent central processing units in a single computing component die or chip. And according to Microsoft, Windows 10 supports only 2 cores which is 2 cpu’s. Windows 10 does not currently support quad core 4 cpu machines. I am trying to find out if Microsoft has any intention of upgrading Windows 10 so that it will use all 4 cpu’s.

If windows 10 does now support 4 cpu’s, please show me the website or link where Microsoft makes that statement. The only statement I can find from Microsoft is that Windows 10 will only make use of 2 cpu’s on a machine.

I believe what microsoft is telling me. Microsoft tells me that I have «4 cores» i. So my question still stands: Does Microsoft have any intention of improving Windows 10 to handle 4 core machines? And if so, please provide me with a link to Microsoft’s statement to that effect. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. I am running Windows 7 on a 64 bit 4 core, 8 logical processor computer. I would like to go to Windows 10, but it is limited to 2 cores, 4 logicals. Does microsoft have any intention of advancing Windows 10 to 64 bit 4 cores 8 logical processors? This thread is locked. Hi JDZB I don’t know where you got your information, but Windows 10 happily supports 4 cores with 8 logical threads and a lot more than that too – see the screenshot of my Task Manager below:.

How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to DaveM’s post on October 3, Is there a difference perhaps between Win10 Pro and Win10 Home? Physical processors – most standard systems, even high power gaming laptops have only 1 processor That processor can have a number of Cores 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, You have 1 processor in your system with 4 cores and 8 threads, Windows 10 will handle that with ease! Windows 10 will have absolutely no problem running on your system, since you have 1 processor with 4 cores and 8 threads.

In reply to DaveM’s post on October 4, Hi JDZB I am not contradicting myself, you are just not understanding the difference between cores on a physical processor and separate processors In the initial screenshot, can you not see I am running a 7th gen i7 processor, which is the same as yours, except it is 5 years newer and I am running Windows 10 In the second screenshot, I showed that the 4 cores are on the same physical processor From the quote you just posted – Cores is a hardware term that describes the number of independent central processing units in a single computing component die or chip That indicates the 4 cores are on the one Processor, once again.

If you still believe you have 4 separate processors in your system, open it up and count the heat sinks on your system, there will be 1 on the one and only processor, there may be another if you have a separate graphics chip, but that is it.

I am running 6 cores and 12 logical processors You are confusing Processors and Cores, that it the basic fundamental error you are making.
